This year I have been named Peñista del Año, and although being chosen as Peñista del Año is a distinction that fills anyone with pride—and for me it is a tremendous honour—the news came as a great surprise. When I weigh my own contribution to San Roque, I honestly feel that the scales would barely move, because whatever little I have done has simply been as one member of a team that has devoted itself, year after year, to making this great celebration of Calatayud a reality.
I would like to take this wonderful opportunity to send a message to everyone—crew members and the people of Calatayud alike. Let us all stand together in 1987, sparing no effort to ensure that our San Roque Festivities continue to be a source of genuine joy, both for those who visit us and for those who call this city home.
