Dear Fellow Crew Members,
It is a great honour for me to address you with these few words, especially this year, for the reasons that you all know.
They say that dreams are just dreams, but for those of us who have devoted many years to working for the San Roque Festivities, they sometimes do come true. At least, that is exactly how I felt when I was told that I had been chosen as Peñista del Año.
I cannot forget where it all began, and I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Euqor Crew, my very first crew, to Los Que Faltaban Crew, and, of course, to La Bota Crew, where I truly grew as a crew member and learned the dedication and sacrifice required to keep a crew going—especially one that is relatively small. I am immensely proud that, despite many difficulties, the crew has managed to recover and become what it was always meant to be. For that reason, I would like to remember and thank every president who has helped move the crew forward since 1976, especially its current president. Above all, I want to thank my wife and my children, who have been the greatest support anyone could wish for.
I would also like to congratulate the presidents of every San Roque Crew, together with all the members of their committee boards, and encourage them to continue working for festivities of which we can all feel increasingly proud year after year.
Finally, I simply wish you all a wonderful San Roque Festivities. I hope you enjoy them to the fullest, but always with the good manners and respect that have long been the hallmark of the people of Calatayud.
