Very soon, the launch of the Chupinazo will mark the beginning of the festivities, and the streets of Calatayud will once again be filled with joy in honour of Saint Roch.
Ever since I first put on the green shirt of Los Que Faltaban Crew, I have always looked forward to these days with great excitement. That excitement has never faded over the years—quite the opposite. In recent years, I have had the pleasure of sharing it with my children as well. This year, however, you have made it especially meaningful for me. Being named Peñista del Año is a tremendous honour, and I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you.
So, from the bottom of my heart... thank you for the honour of choosing me as Peñista del Año. I hope to wear the multicoloured shirt of the crews with all the dignity that it deserves.
On such a special occasion, I cannot and will not forget those who are no longer with us. This distinction is dedicated to you as well.
All that remains is for me to wish that all of us—San Roque enthusiasts and crew members, the people of Calatayud and our visitors alike—set aside our differences, whether great or small, and once again show everyone what true joy, friendship and respectful celebration look like.
