Dear Crew Members,
It is a great honour to address you through this programme. In previous years I have written these words in my own crew's programme as its president, but this year is different.
I know this is going to be a very special year for me because this is something that can only happen once in a lifetime. It is an immense honour for someone like me, who lives these festivities so intensely that, as soon as they are over, I am already counting the days until the next San Roque. I have belonged to my crew since I was nine years old. As many of you know, it is one of the smaller crews, which means it takes even more effort to keep it going. But with enthusiasm and determination, anything is possible.
I would like to thank everyone who supported me in receiving this distinction: the presidents of all the crews, the Inter-Crew Federation, and especially someone for whom I have great affection, Javier García, better known as "El Capu". I also want to thank the person who nominated me for Peñista del Año, someone with whom I have spent many years working side by side for our crew and for these wonderful festivities.
Finally, I would like to encourage all the members of the various committee boards to continue working and striving to preserve and strengthen these festivities of which we are all so proud.
I hope you enjoy them to the fullest.
