As a child, my crew was EL DESBARAJUSTE. Later, during my teenage years, I was proud to be a crew member of ROUNA, and for more than twenty years now, I have been proud to belong to EUQOR and to be a member of the Brotherhood of San Roque.
Today, I am filled with emotion, and it is a great honor for me to be the Peñista del Año for San Roque 2014.
Ever since my crew and the current board of the Inter-Crew Federation informed me of this recognition, I have not stopped thinking about the gratitude and appreciation—often kept to myself—that I have always felt for all those people who have accompanied and supported me throughout my years serving on the boards of EUQOR and the Inter-Crew Federation, whether on a personal level or while representing institutions and companies.
For this reason, I would like to dedicate this honor of being Peñista del Año especially to all the board members with whom I have had the privilege of serving in EUQOR and the Inter-Crew Federation, as well as to my family and friends, who have always helped and supported me.
I would also like to take this opportunity to encourage you all not only to participate as crew members, but also to become board members or volunteers, working for the San Roque festivities and for the benefit of all crew members.
My thoughts are also with everyone who is no longer with us and cannot share these celebrations, especially my father.
May we all enjoy this San Roque together—crew members and visitors alike—and once again take this opportunity to relax, celebrate, and share these special days in friendship, setting an example of joyful, respectful, and good-natured celebration.
