It is a great honor and a tremendous pleasure for me to have been chosen as Peñista del Año for the upcoming San Roque festivities of 2015, especially in the same year that my crew, La Unión, celebrates its 55th anniversary.
This is something that only happens once in a lifetime, and not to every crew member. That is why I feel immensely happy and deeply honored by this recognition, and I would like to share it with all crew members and with everyone who works throughout the year to make these wonderful San Roque festivities possible.
This coming San Roque will be different and very special for me, because representing every crew member during these festivities is an incredible honor. I have no doubt that I will do everything possible to attend every event scheduled for San Roque 2015, which I am certain will become an unforgettable experience for me.
Many unforgettable memories come to mind of crew members and friends who are sadly no longer with us. Unfortunately, there are far too many of them. They all remain in my warmest thoughts.
For all these reasons, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my crew, La Unión, for nominating me as Peñista del Año; to the presidents of all the crews; to the Inter-Crew Federation; to my family; and to all my friends for the trust they have placed in me.
Having gained considerable experience over the years, both as part of the Inter-Crew Federation and within my own crew, I would like to share a few thoughts that I believe are important. There are certain aspects of the organization and structure of the festivities that could be improved. We should improve what can be improved while preserving everything that already works exceptionally well. We should encourage greater participation by crew members in all scheduled events, whether in the crew headquarters, the bullring, or the streets. In short, we should break down barriers while also seeking the unconditional support and collaboration of the City Council of Calatayud and other provincial and regional institutions.
I sincerely hope that you will all take part in and enjoy these San Roque festivities, and that they will be just as special for every crew member as they will undoubtedly be for me.
