Hello everyone, residents of San Roque, Calatayud, and all the members of the local social clubs!
For those who don't know me well, I'm Pedro Pérez Yagüe, although in the streets of our beloved city, almost everyone calls me by my nickname, "Desper." I'm a member of the PEÑA EL CACHIRULO social club, where I've spent most of my San Roque celebrations. This year, 2026, is proving to be one of the most exciting and emotional of my life, as I have the immense honor of celebrating my Golden Jubilee at the festivities: 50 uninterrupted years, living the San Roque spirit and sharing the joy of our big days. And to top it all off, the Interpeñas Federation has awarded me the title of Member of the Social Club of the Year, a prize I receive with a heart full of gratitude.
Looking back and reviewing my journey is to see a whole life dedicated, with successes and mistakes, but always with my heart leading the way, to the social, festive, and sporting fabric of Calatayud. As for the San Roque festivities, I've never been a mere spectator; like almost everything in my life, I've always been passionate about them and have enjoyed actively participating in everything I've been asked to do. I've always understood that the greatness of our celebrations depends on collective effort. That's why, for these past five decades, I've tried to lend a hand behind the scenes, actively collaborating with different committees and working tirelessly to ensure that, when the day arrives, everything goes perfectly, and that hospitality, camaraderie, and the pride of Calatayud remain our defining characteristics.
However, my commitment to Calatayud doesn't end when the festivities conclude. Those who know me are aware of my deep dedication to local associations and, especially, to the sports of our region. I've had the good fortune and the honor of dedicating more than 30 years of my life as a board member of Atlético Calatayud, in addition to experiencing a wonderful period as president of the Calatayud Pelota Club. Today, I remain as dedicated as ever, with the same enthusiasm as the first day, presiding over the Calatayud Youth Football Academy, where I dedicate myself fully to ensuring that the youngest players grow up with the values of hard work, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Both in my role as a businessman and manager, and in my personal life, my driving force has always been the same: to work for and with my city. For over 45 years, I have strived to ensure that everyone who came to me left satisfied with the service and the quality of my work.
I feel this recognition as Supporters' Club Member of the Year as a gift from an entire community to which I have tried to give back a little of everything it has given me.
And remember, the most important thing is that we are all together.
